3 day itinerary
Day One.
Pick up Alice Springs from 6 am at your accommodation or between 12.30 and 1.30 from Ayers Rock Airport ( Connellan Airport). No pick ups after 2.00pm.
We begin the first morning by driving south towards the Rock. This takes around five hours with stops along the way for anything of interest or just a chance to stretch your legs.
Along the way we point out the changes face of the Red Centre, including upside down rivers, salt lakes, large rocks and wildlife! On arrival at Yulara Resort, we pick up anyone that is starting their trip from their accommodation or the Airport. ( note this tour ends in Alice Springs on day three, or Yulara if you choose the two day option).
Once we have everyone onboard, we will find a private spot to have lunch. Lunch today is a simple pre-made one to save time so that we can spend more time visiting the sites. Time and weather permitting, we travel to either Kata Tjuta or Uluru for the first afternoon and complete a fantastic walk before heading to Sunset on Uluru for one of the many highlights to your trip.
We then head back to our campsite to cook dinner, have showers and spend our first night under the best stars in the world. Tonight we are in Swags ( Aussie bedrolls) which are a slice of Outback History and surprisingly comfortable. We provide the swags, but you need to bring a sleep sheet or sleeping bag or ask to hire a sleeping bag from us before the tour starts.
Day Two.
We rise early to make it in time for Sunrise on Uluru where we have a light breakfast before heading off to wherever we didn't go on Day One!. If its Kata Tjuta, we will walk The Valley Of The Winds which is one of our best kept secrets, and if its Uluru, we will walk part of the base walk followed by a guided walk at either Mutijulu or The Mala Walk, which are two of the most visually spectacular parts of Uluru. We then make time to visit the Information Centre before lunch and a nice afternoon drive towards Kings Canyon for our overnight camp. If you are keen we can stop along the way and look for some bush tucker?
We arrive at the campground at Kings Canyon before Sunset, so we can set ourselves up for dinner and our second night in Swags under the stars. As there is minimal population in this part of the world, the stars are really spectacular. Try not to stay up all night though as we have to get up early again tomorrow for the big Canyon hike!
Day Three.
A quick breakfast and freshen up followed by a short drive to begin the Kings Canyon Rim Walk. This is a moderate 6.5 km hike that starts with Heart Attack Hill, roughly 300 metres of stairs, which will get your heart pumping but after that it becomes a nice relatively easy walk in the park!
We stop at the North and South facing walls and take it all in. Along the hike we see The Garden of Eden, The Lost city and Kestrel Falls before descending back down to the carpark and heading for a some refreshments.
After our last lunch together, we begin the afternoon drive back to Alice Springs, dropping you off at your accommodation around sunset.
Note: If you want to just do the two day, one night option, which would pick you up from Yulara on Day one and drop you back before heading to Kings Canyon on Day Two, please request at time of booking. This enables you to fly in and out of the Rock but you miss Kings Canyon and night two.
